Passing of Berkshire Referee

Berkshire Rugby Referees are sad to mark the passing of one of their longest serving Honorary Life Members, Peel Holroyd, who died on 21st December, after a short illness, and whose funeral takes place today in Newbury.

Peel was the embodiment of Rugby’s Core Values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship, providing positive and supportive presence on the touchline to countless referees over the course of more than three decades as a referee adviser in Berkshire.

A truly kind and gentle man, with a keen and probing intellect, he will be both greatly missed and fondly remembered by fellow Society members, referees and friends across the Rugby community, and beyond.
